Desert animals lives in desert which is defined as a region that receives very little rainfall. It can be hot or cold. There are various types of deserts all around the world, from the harsh elements of the Sahara desert in Africa to the 4 deserts of the Southwestern United States. Areas in Antarctica are examples of cold deserts. The desert animals that live in the desert usually have special adaptations that allow them to survive the extreme temperatures and conditions that are present.
  • Camels: Among the desert animals camels are the one of them. Camels have been used for transporting goods across deserts for thousands of years. In fact, camels are the only desert animals that can carry heavy loads of goods and travel for a long period of time without food or water. Desert people also rely on camels for their milk, meat, and fur.
  • Fat Sand Rat: Among the other desert animals fat sand rat is also one of them. The fat sand rat overcomes the problem of the unpredictability of desert food supplies by laying down a thick layer of fat all over its body when food is abundant. It then lives off this fat when food is short. Active day and night, this gerbil darts about collecting seeds and other vegetation which it carries back to its burrow.
  • The Kingsnake: The Kingsnake is also famous among the desert animals. It gets its name from its habit of eating other snakes, and is most famous for eating rattlesnakes, copperheads and coral snakes. But it also feeds on other snakes, lizards, birds and their eggs, small mammals, turtles and frogs.
